Catch Up Post

It's been so long, needless to say I do not have much desire to blog right now.

On March 11th, Skyler turned 11. It was his lucky birthday (11 on the 11th), anyway, he got to have a friend party this year and invited several boys. We had pizza, donut (instead of cake), and played night games. The boys all really seemed to like it. Skyler's big gift was an airline ticket to go and see his cousins in Arkansas!! What a hit!! He was so excited to see them and got to spend four days with them. He went to Silver Dollar City, saw a musical group perform and had a blast with his favorite cousins in the world.

Skyler is such a great kid. He is really an 18 year old trapped in an 11 year olds body. He loves to read, has read thousands of pages and wakes himself up at 6:00am every morning so he can read his books. One day I asked him, "Skyler, why do you get up so early? Don't you ever want to sleep in?" His response..."Mom, I can sleep when I'm dead. I have too much to do to waste my time sleeping." From that response, you can definately tell he is his father's son and not mine:). Just today he finished reading the book Master. Excellent fictional book about the life of Christ, and he said that he has a whole new appreciation for Him. Skyler is a GREAT son.

As soon as Skyler got home from Arkansas, our family was able to head to California for a little vacation and to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma. We had such a great day. A day at DisneyLand, many days at the beach and a night of baseball at the Angels stadium. We are so grateful that grandpa and grandma let us crash at their place for a week....thank you!!

Finally on April 5, Ryan and I celebrated 14 years of marriage!! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday that we were married and other times, I cannot remember life without him. It has truly been a great 14 years. We often talk about the fact that compared to today, we cannot believe that we thought we were even in love when we got married. It has just continually gotten better and better. I'm not saying that there hasn't been some downs, but honestly the ups have FAR out weighed any downs. We love the song by Brad Paisley: And I Thought I Loved You Then, it is the most true to life song!! Since we had just gotten home from Cali, we only did dinner, but that's ok, 15 is next year and Ryan promises we'll do something awesome:)
