Skyler is 10!!

I'm not sure why this birthday seems so much harder than all of his past birthdays, but I'm thinking it's because he has hit the double digit mark and I truly cannot believe how fast 10 years has flown. If his next ten are just as fast, he will be 20 before I blink.

I think back ten years today and welcome my first born after 26 hours of labor. He was born at 2:20 am after having pushed for 2 hours and 20 minutes. Skyler is truly a perfect son, I could not ask for a better kid. He and I have always had such a great relationship and I have to wonder if it is because he was a only child for almost 5 years. He and I can talk about anything (and I do mean anything) and he has never liked me being mad at him, so he pretty much tries to never be in trouble.

He loves to bring me breakfast in bed, still asks me to hold me or rock him on a daily basis and will often come up to me and tell me that he needs a hug from me. He is also a wonderful big brother. Drew and Nathan look up to him so much and he is one of the only other people Abbey will go to. She loves him so much!!


Skyler is such a smart kid, does great in school, is really into soccer right now, loves to play with friends, is enjoying learning how to play the guitar and loves to read and learn about the gospel. He always asks to study the Book of Mormon with Ryan and I and genuinely seems to be interested in what we are studying. The other thing about Skyler, is that he has to live in an adult world. With no cousins his age and his closest siblings 5 years younger, he often spends his time with the grown-ups, so he is very involved in big conversations and is extremely opinionated about politics, playing games with his Uncles (like Chess, Axis and Allies, Settlers of Cantaan) and just being older than he really is. We all love Skyler so much. Happy Birthday!!!
